What’s Next For The Killers?

With The Killers having performed their last show of 2014 at Tennent’s Vital in Belfast tonight, The Killers appear set to devote the rest of 2014 and part of 2015 to their various solo projects.

Steven Douglas, The Killers lighting designer, appears to have confirmed that Tennent’s Vital is indeed The Killers last ‘Battle Born’/ ‘Direct Hits’ show.

Brandon Flowers confirmed in an interview with V Fest that there is not a new Killers album in works at this time.  In my opinion, it is likely that The Killers will follow the same pattern as they did in the period between ‘Day & Age’ and ‘Battle Born’.

Brandon Flowers:

Brandon recently confirmed that he will be releasing his second solo album in early 2015.  Brandon has also confirmed that he is working with producer Ariel Rechtshaid.  Jason Hill, of Louis XIV and Vicky Cryer, has also indicated that he is working on Brandon Flowers second solo album.

Recent rumors have indicated that Brandon is fairly far along in the recording process and that he is currently planning on keeping his second solo album somewhat short.

Ronnie Vannucci:

Ronnie’s solo project, Big Talk, appears to be in full swing, though there is no indication of how far along in the recording process he may be.  Big Talk has been posting a steady steam of Twitter and Instagram updates.

Mark Stoermer & Dave Keuning:

Mark and Dave have been relatively quite thus far.

The latest information, from May 2014, had Mark and Dave working in some way with Jason Hill.

The first video of The Killers performing ‘Teenage Kicks’ by The Undertones has been uploaded on YouTube.  It appears to be a proper cover and not the acoustic cover that typically follows ‘A Dustland Fairytale’.

I will post a better version once more videos are uploaded later tonight/ tomorrow.

Update:

A version with better audio has been uploaded on YouTube.

It appears that The Killers have been selling an updated ‘Direct Hits’ t-shirt at their shows in the United Kingdom.  The front and back of the t-shirt are viewable below:

Victims will recall the version sold during The Killers US dates in April and May of this year featured the artwork for ‘Battle Born’.

(Thanks to Alan for the photo above.)

Of note, The Killers opened tonights show with an extended version of ‘Somebody Told Me’.  Victims will also note the glittery pink jacket Brandon wore tonight, that, in my opinion, is reminiscent of The Killers ‘Hot Fuss’ era.

The Killers again performed ‘Miss Atomic Bomb’ and covered ‘Fancy’, by Iggy Azalea, and ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, by Van Morrison.  Additionally, Jimmy Carr appeared before The Killers encore to energize the crowd.

I will update this post with any videos of The Killers covers and reviews of the show if and when they surface.

Brandon Flowers Confirms Work With Ariel Rechtshaid, Second Solo Album Out in Early 2015

Brandon Flowers, in an exclusive interview published in the V Festival 2014 program, has confirmed that he is working with Ariel Rechtshaid on his second solo album.  Brandon has also confirmed that his second solo album will be out in 2015.

Brandon’s collaboration with Rechtshaid had been rumored since April of this year when Rechtshaid was spotted at Battle Born Studios in Las Vegas.

If anyone has any images of the entire V Festival 2014 interview that they wouldn’t mind sharing, feel free to send them my way and I’ll post them.
